See this prompt as an open invitation to exercise your agency of choice to define what would the prompt mean most to you and carry it out in a small way if a big way feels overwhelming. As Context
The poem below first featured in a written caption for a TikTok video first shared on 7 January 2025 though filmed in December 2024. I like to call these videos ‘visual poetry’ and most of the time they’re filmed in timelapse on my iPhone or GoPro as part of my mindfulness and meditation inspired practice.
The Benergy practice itself is a simple one that explores how we show, experience and share time, on many levels. It is an invitation for us all to connect with our truth, in our own time, while appreciating that there truly is no time like the present. Now, you may ask, how do we make visible that which is invisible? What separates an idea from reality? Where does ‘time’ start and end? Upon reflection, you may simply need to ponder the nature of it all. I hope these TikTok videos are of some use to you in the process alongside the words that originally accompanied them in their captions as poetry.
This is all just to say that after more than a year of daily practice building confidence writing poems within TikTok captions, I am going to try and share at least one new free ‘Loving Kindness’ Substack per day that features a poem alongside its TikTok video, if I can.
The order in which I’ll share them on Substack, as I see it, will work backwards each day from my most ‘popular’ content on TikTok, if I have not already posted a Substack of it. Popularity on TikTok is gauged not by the number of views but the number of ‘likes’, followed by comments, followed by favourites. As far as I can tell. This makes sense because this demonstrate not simply passive consumption, but active engagement! Which I am all about. Though I appreciate everyone and am thankful for anyone tuning in with their eyes, ears, hands or hearts.
This is all just to say the order may be unpredictable… for sure! For example, we may be working our way backwards through a specific location or period of time on Substack, then a new TikTok I make might do well in terms of ‘popularity’ meaning we will move to that one directly next. This will also be a poetic commentary on the nature of life and part of the Benergy practice for anyone who’d like to join the exercise of embracing life’s uncertainties with creative enterprise.
Last disclaimer: it’s a big one! I fully accept that I have made many statements like this before and this commitment may not come to fruition. That is also okay. We learn each time. That is why I am not putting a deadline on this and am making it a living work also that I will try my best to complete. Plus, for the record, I have still got an eye on all the projects I’ve started and, mark my word, have been slowly but surely making my way through to finish them all… with peace, love and kindness.
After all…
